A real estate recovery fund is generally designed as a consumer protection mechanism, often administered at the state level, to help compensate people who suffer financial loss because of certain unlawful or unethical conduct by licensed real estate professionals. It is not the same as a private investment fund. Requirements, claim limits, eligibility rules, and filing deadlines vary by jurisdiction.
